The hype had died down a little bit as Them Crooked Vultures (featuring Josh Homme, Dave Grohl and John Paul Jones) started focusing on a handful of live shows to introduce their new music. However, those who were lucky enough to take them in live have provided some extremely positive reviews and those of us who only had the viral teaser videos to salivate over can start getting excited again.
Earlier this week the trio released an audio stream of the song “New Fang” (see the video below) and revealed the release date for the album. The self-titled record hits stores in the U.K. on November 16th with it arriving a day later in the U.S. and Canada. Self produced by the three, it contains 13 tracks (check out the full track listing after the video).
Pre-orders for the CD have already begun and a pre-sale for some West Coast tour dates start today at 10:00 hrs local time. Dates include November 17th in Los Angeles, November 19th in Oakland, November 21st in Seattle and November 22nd in Portland. Password for the pre-sale is “scumbag“.

Yes kiddies, for a select few of you, you can start freaking out with excitment because Them Crooked Vultures have just announced two brief tours. The first is a 9-date stint in North America (which includes Toronto) in October followed by an even shorter 6-date jaunt across the U.K. in December. For you lucky bastards who live in or near the cities listed below, Christmas comes early this year!

So Pearl Jam have reportedly been hard at work on their new album but aren’t going to rush it out there and compromise the quality. Meaning, who knows when we’ll get some new PJ material. However, you might very well HEAR some new tunes if you catch them in either Toronto or Chicago this summer. Naturally, we have today’s pre-sale passwords for both shows.

The Tragically Hip continue to add dates to their North American tour in support of their new album, We Are the Same. They’ve added a fourth show in Winnipeg (sorry, no pre-sale password for that…yet WE NOW HAVE THE WINNIPEG PRE-SALE PASSWORD! SEE BELOW!) and now a sole show in Abbotsford, BC on August 8th. Being a suburb of Vancouver (who already have three shows in June), this makes a total of four shows in the lower mainland B.C. area for Hip fans to check out what will prove to be an amazing show. Not surprisingly, Toronto tops the list of most shows with a six-night stint at Massey Hall starting next week.
This tour, dubbed An Evening with the Tragically Hip, features no supporting acts. The band will perform for well over two hours split into two sets (much like they’ve done in the past, noteably in 2000 in support of that year’s album, Music at Work).

Heaven and Hell have returned with their first album (the Devil You Know) in 17 years and will be launching their select North American tour in Vancouver on August 7th, 2009!
The quartet, consisting of Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice, carry the name of Black Sabbath‘s ninth studio album, which all but the latter were a part of (Appice joined Sabbath for the tour following the album’s release). The four recorded and/or toured as Black Sabbath from 1980-1982 and again in 1991/92. While Iommi and Butler remain members of Black Sabbath, Iommi decided that when these four got together to record and tour, they would be known as Heaven and Hell.
Their new album, the Devil You Know, was released on April 28th and has thus far received mostly favourable reviews. They are scheduled to play a number of festivals in Europe through this summer before coming across the pond for their North American tour. Joining them are New York state’s Coheed and Cambria, who themselves recently released Neverender, a four CD and five DVD set containing live footage/audio from a string of concerts last fall in which they performed the entire four full-length albums they’ve released, which tell the story of the Armory Wars.

I never thought I’d see the day when CKY would announce a tour and there would be more confirmed Canadian dates than there are U.S. shows. That’s exactly what’s happened though.
The West Chester, PA group are about to release their fourth proper full-length album, Carver City via Roadrunner Records on May 19th and this week announced the first dates of their North American tour in support of the record. Things start off in Montreal on June 15th with stops in Toronto (June 17th), Kitchener, ON (June 18th), London, ON (June 19th), Thunder Bay, ON (June 21st), Winnipeg (June 22nd), Regina (June 23rd), Calgary (June 24th), Edmonton (June 26th), Kelowna (June 27th) and Vancouver on June 28th.
The only U.S. dates at this time are Seattle (June 29th), Portland (June 30th), Petaluma, CA (July 2nd) and Los Angeles on July 3rd. Pre-sales for all shows can be found through the CKY Alliance web site.
CKY have already released the first single to Carver City, “Hellions on Parade” via iTunes.

Vancouver fans should be plenty happy. Eagles of Death Metal are going to play not one but two shows at the Commodore Ballroom on July 20th and 21st. Tickets go on sale Thursday, April 30th at 10:00 hrs Pacific time but with the pre-sale password, you can get them early between 10:00 hrs and 22:00 hrs Pacific time TOMORROW, April 29th.
