Phantogram are a new discovery for me. Stumbling upon them this week after OtD contributor Show informed me of some hilarious comments to their YouTube video. There is something entrancing about both this video and this song.
Part of the Barsuk Records family (which includes OtD favs Ra Ra Riot), the duo made up of Sarah Barthel and Josh Carter hail from Saratoga Springs, NY. The two apparently love sticking to the rural landscapes of upsate New York even though their sound is very big city with electronic loops and pop melodies.
Truth be told, this song isn’t new. It’s album, Eyelid Movies came out back in 2009 in Europe although it didn’t see the light of day here in North America until the Following February.
