*****THIS SITE IS BEST VIEWED IN FIREFOX, IE7 AND SAFARI!*****

Off the Dial was born of kMNR.ca (click here for the full story), a site dedicated to bringing music news, reviews, photos and interviews with some of the best independent and established rock artists around. When kMNR.ca began producing a podcast titled “Off the Dial“, a new idea emerged. Ditch the newsletter format, produce more podcasts and start bringing music news as soon as possible.

So, why the name change? Well, Off the Dial seems much easier to remember and catchier than kMNR. Sometimes people would ask what the acronym meant but I’m certain that when talking to random strangers and fellow music lovers at loud gigs, kMNR just didn’t stick in their brain. Besides, Off the Dial has that…je ne sais quois. The concept behind the name originally spoke to the podcast; playing music that you might not necessarily hear on conventional radio. But that can apply to the stories I write as you’re just as likely to read about the Fast Romantics on this site as your are Radiohead.

So I hope you enjoy what we have to offer. Feel free to make comments on any article and/or podcast. In fact, I encourage it! I look forward to telling you about all that is good in the world of music.

Make sure to check out the kMNR Archives in their new home, right here on Off the Dial!

I just checked out podcast #5, loved it. Used to listen to a lot of punk back in the day. I will definately be checking out some of the featured artists. I am transitioning from M$ to Linux, and the podcast worked great under linux (Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon – using Rhythmbox) MP3 feed.

Punk rock tried to kill the Metal…but they failed as they were smite to the ground..

    Hello,

I wanted to inquire about getting a video reviewed/featured on your blog. What protocol do you follow in order to decide what videos/music you will review? Do you have an email address that I could send the bands info to?

Thank you and I look forward to your response.

Yes, we are touring the gritty and charming province of Alberta to promote the release of our new full length LP, New Atlantis.
